A judge in America has ruled that officials in the Biden administration, alongside several federal agencies, must not contact social media companies with regard to content containing “protected free speech”. The 155-page ruling follows a closely-watched case in which social media companies’ First Amendment rights were considered in the context of the government’s role in moderating misinformation.
The US Department of Justice is currently reviewing the ruling in which Judge Terry Doughty was heavily critical of government officials contacting social media companies in relation to content moderation.
