Cian O'Brien joined the Data Protection Commission of Ireland in 2019 and was appointed Director and Deputy Commissioner in 2022. Cian’s role focuses on the DPC’s large-scale inquiries and cross-border complaints. He graduated from University College Dublin and the Kings Inns Dublin, and was called to the Bar of Ireland in 2014. He practised law as a Barrister and tutored European Union law before joining the DPC.
